Sarah McLachlan - Angel

Every time she sings
My heart would ache with queer pain
This World is so beautiful,
Yet whirling in sheer madness

“ Everywhere you turn, there’s vultures and thieves at your back”

People, are we?
A pack of lies and an army of soldiers
Battling for the top spot
But when you reach the top
Is there anything else to fight for?
Or is it even enough?

And it’s hard at the end of the day,
I need some distraction
Oh beautiful release
Memory seeps from my veins
Let me be empty
And weightless and maybe
I’ll find some peace tonight

Watching people and their surroundings
Humans are amusing, some entertaining
I bet animals find us an even harder bunch to understand
“There’s always one reason, to feel not good enough”
Sometimes, you either can’t explain that reason
Or even define what the reason is

For the lonely and forgotten
You spend all your time waiting
For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
When you’re stuck
And looking up that ceiling wall
The endlessness that you fear
Life’s unpredictable

Sometimes
It’s easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
This glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

We all wish we had an Angel,
So we can fly away from “here”
To be pulled from our wreckage
Of our silent reverie
To be in the arms of an Angel
To find comfort, peace and quiet
Tonight.
